Pinterest is always listed as a top choice when considering apps to curate and save inspiration on, Tumblr and Tiktok are often close seconds. Does anybody remember We Heart It? Alongside all of those options, Instagram has been one of my favorite apps to mindlessly save interesting posts on, just as they appear on my feed or explore page. I sort things only by color, titled with hue appropriate emojis, resulting in a visually pleasing mess of ideas. It’s always fun to scroll through some of the collections after a bit and see what themes may have naturally paired together. Here are a few of them, at a glimpse.
🛸
This collection follows a slightly broader color theme, both blues and greens are allowed. Do expect a large number of cartoon characters and cats in each group, much like this one. Some highlights include a post by blackarchives.co at the top left, it’s showcasing magazine shots around Jackson, Mississippi for Vibe Magazine in the early 2000’s, an enviable jewelry display at the center left, and a clip of UNDERCOVER’s ss24 glowing tulle “greenhouse gowns” via Susie Bubble’s account.

One of my favorite collections to add to is the pink one, it always ends up being super fun and whimsical without even trying. A few of the most recent saves are Sandy Liang’s ss24 show in the top middle, a sort of makeup comparison moodboard by terrybarberonbeauty (a fun account to scroll through) at the center left, and a collection of images gathered by meccajw that showcase Palestinian joy at the bottom

What jumps out in this yellow collection is a helpful and visually pleasing infographic from forgeprojectny in the top left corner, and two pics of King Krule beside it. The photo of him in the center is from this year’s winter issue of Exit Magazine, which I have on the way in the mail. Another must-mention is the post on the center left. It is a lovely colored pencil drawing by briannarosebrooks, an artist I’ve followed pretty much since I’ve had an instagram account. I have one of their works set as my laptop wallpaper and hope they decide to sell prints or something one day.

Highly influenced by Halloween, at the moment, the black collection is dominated by black cats and horror films. One of the cats comes in the form of a wacky vintage fan that I desperately need. More vintage inspo at the bottom right with images of a 1930’s vaudeville dance group in DC.
🪁
The purple collection gets added to the least, it is a severely underused shade. Since starting this board in 2018, I have only saved 86 posts to it! Pitiful. Right now it is very music oriented. The most recent post is of Faye Webster after her Austin show, and FKA twigs gazes at us below to the right. On the very bottom, Big Joanie announces the departure of their drummer (😖), and there’s an old pic of Bikini Kill.
⚡️
The recent theme of this collection appears to be scared and puffed up white cats. Also King Krule (again), a very sculptural, bell-shaped dress by Alexander Mcqueen, and a grimacing snoopy and Leland Palmer.
At the expense of your screentime, try adding another app to your lineup of places to gather inspiration! I mentioned Tumblr earlier despite barely using it but that’s something I want to change. Surround yourself with things you like and learn more about them. Life is more fun when you have pretty things to look at! Thank you for reading ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
your saves are so organized 😻
gorgeous, also king krule is lovely
