My autumn has been quite warm, rainy, and slightly marred by multiple foiled attempts to travel upstate. It just seems as if mother nature herself is working against my wishes to go see the trees in their golden glory. Whether or not I’ll make it out the city before the trees are bare is yet to be revealed, but I’ll keep on trying.
Leaf peeping failures aside, I have still been thoroughly enjoying the fall season! I’ve tried to keep track of some of the various clothing items I’ve been reaching for, music I’ve been listening to, and other fun things to share with you all.
clothessss

One of my most worn items this fall is this vintage French 60’s era dress I purchased on depop late July. It had been rotting in my cart for months until something finally possessed me to hit checkout. It is mostly wool and has a drop waist and pleated skirt, working buttons down the front side and a tiny black houndstooth print all over (both not too visible in these pics :p) It’s been so fun to wear this navy blue beauty with tights and high socks, which I have been doing a lot. I’ve tried to mix it up a bit by throwing a cardigan over it, wearing it with another blue French item, and even with a sweatshirt over top to let it peek out like a skirt. If you want to try out my new fall uniform, I found some more lovely options here, here, here anddddddd here.

I’ve also found myself throwing on a fleece a lot. As much as I hate to admit it, I have a pretty low tolerance for the cold and it doesn’t feel as dramatic as wearing a puffer jacket right now. Mine is from Sandy Liang, I purchased it as a sort of birthday gift at her sample sale in January! I wasn’t 100% sure how well the color would work with my wardrobe but I love how it has encouraged me to wear pink, which is one of my favorite colors, yet quite scarce in my closet.

My most recent and perhaps most cherished acquisitions of the season have to be my two new vintage pairs of shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo. I’ve always been fond of footwear that can showcase my sock choices (something I put way too much thought into), which is why I’ve been a dedicated wearer of Dr. Marten mary janes for so long. Like everyone else, I’ve been super into the Fabiana shoes by Nicole Saldaña, but as a girl™, I do not have $395 to spend on shoes. I was content with a more affordable yet ill-fitting pair of dupes from Steve Madden for a while, until I found these during a midnight scroll through The Real Real. I bought the black pair first, with little hesitation, for $60. When they arrived and fit amazingly, I went ahead and bought the white pair as well, which had fallen to about the same price since the first time I saw them. I’ve worn these to work, class, and out and about multiple days in a row and could not be happier with them.
One tip if any of you find a pair of Ferragamo’s on a secondhand site, make note of the width of the shoe! Many of them run quite small with widths of A, AA, or even AAA. The higher the letter, the narrower the width. A traditional, “normal” shoe width would be the letter B, which these were. Usually you can look at the inside wall of the shoe and a serial number + size + width will be listed, and hopefully the seller lists it in the description. I put together a quick little image distinguishing the numbers and letters so you can’t say I never taught you anything↓
music
The weather truly does effect your music choices, and the vibes of what I’ve been feeding my ears has shifted. The whole season of autumn feels very nostalgic so I’ve found myself revisiting some old favorites. Albums I’ve had on repeat include Nina Simone’s Broadway-Blues-Ballads, Make Way for Love by Marlon Williams, The Boy with the Arab Strap by Belle and Sebastian, and of course, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon by King Krule. I own all of these albums on vinyl (🤓) so I’ve been listening both outside the house and when I have time to chill in my room
I put together a playlist with songs from these albums + other songs I’ve been obsessed with recently. It has a few jazzy tunes, some folky tunes, and a good dose of the Great Pumpkin soundtrack sprinkled throughout.
other things
These final recent obsessions and tidbits I’m going to sort of speedrun through, just dropping photos with captions.
